Welcome to Lumina

ANCIENT MEDICINE, HELD WITH CARE, IN THE JUNGLE NEAR TULUM, MEXICO

Why Lumina Exists
We didn’t set out to build another retreat. Lumina exists because we believe plant medicine deserves to be approached with care, intention, and respect.
For years, Capi has held ceremonies at The Sanctuary near Tulum, witnessing firsthand how deeply these experiences can affect people. His story is his to tell. Ours began by watching what happened around him — and seeing, again and again, how profoundly a ceremony could move someone.
We also felt that something was missing from the traditional retreat experience. Something this personal shouldn’t feel transactional. And the support you receive shouldn’t depend on the language you speak.
That’s why Lumina was created with a different approach: a personal retreat experience in the Mayan jungle near Tulum, where the relationship with your guide begins before you arrive and continues through preparation, ceremony, and integration. Support is available in English and Spanish, so you can ask questions, express concerns, and process your experience in the language that feels most natural to you.

Lumina wasn't born from spotting an opportunity in the market. It was born from our deep conviction about what this medicine is capable of.
We believe experiences involving Ayahuasca and other traditional medicines deserve to be approached with time, attention, and genuine human connection. Whether you come for a private experience or as part of a retreat group, our intention is to create a space where people feel supported, respected, and truly present for the work.
Every journey begins with an honest conversation about whether this retreat, the medicine, and the experience are right for you. If they’re not, we’ll tell you — before you commit to anything.
That’s where Lumina begins.

The medicine, respected
Our ceremonies are held by practitioners trained within a living lineage of the Ancient Magicians, with years of experience working with these traditional medicines. This isn't about putting on a performance. It's about creating the conditions for a ceremony to be approached with intention, presence, and respect. A night with this medicine can be difficult to put into words. We don't expect anyone to explain it. We listen, we witness, and we pay attention to the person who arrives — and the person who leaves.
Consultation, always first
Before you book a ceremony, we start with a free 30-minute screening conversation. We'll ask about your health, medications, intentions, and circumstances to determine whether this experience may be appropriate for you. If we don't believe it's safe for you, we'll tell you — before you commit to anything.
Your guide speaks English and Spanish, so you can ask questions and have important conversations in the language you're most comfortable with.
Five medicines. Each one asks something different of you.
Ayahuasca is the one people ask about first. It isn't the only door in...
What the medicine asks of you, before and after
I had space to ask questions, move at my own pace, and make sense of what came up. The support afterward was just as important as the ceremony itself. Lumina gave me room to reflect and the time to decide what I actually wanted to carry forward.” - Daniel

The Sanctuary Retreat Eco Resort, in the jungle outside Tulum, Mexico
The Sanctuary is a place of natural materials, open spaces, and quiet surroundings. Hand-shaped superadobe domes, bamboo structures, and paths through the surrounding forest create a setting that feels connected to the land rather than separate from it.
The ceremony spaces are designed for stillness and presence, with fire at the centre of each gathering and the jungle always just beyond the walls.
